The Gospel: Day 30

Posted by Jess

It’s been thirty days, and I think I understand the Gospel a little better than I did before, I hope you do too! Here is how I understand it now:

Just like we trust our doctor to prescribe us the right medicine, we have to trust God and what he said. God said that Jesus was his Son. But he was also one with God. He was himself God in the flesh.  When he died on the cross he really was making payment for our sins. He wasn’t just dying, he really was facing the payment for our sins. He really was reconciling us to God. When he died the payment really was made. Condemnation really is finished. When he died he didn’t stay dead. God rose him from the dead. Jesus really is alive right now, at this very moment, (interceding for us). God accepted his death on our behalf. God really accepted his sacrifice. He deemed it acceptable on our behalf. It was enough to cover all of our sin past, present and future. Like in times of old they would sacrifice lambs to pay for their sin, and had to keep doing it, Jesus was sacrificed once for all sin. Our sin is paid for. Because of Jesus, we’re okay with God. Because we put our trust in who Jesus is and what he did, we now have peace with God. We are his sons and daughters forever. It is finished. We just have to trust God that this is true. Like you trust your doctor, trust God. Trust Jesus.
So what must you do to be saved?
Believe. (Acts 16:31) Believe that Jesus was who he said he was and did what he said he was going to do.
Rejoice in the freedom he bought for you and me.

“that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:19‬ ‭NIV

Until next time,
=)
