A Lady

Posted by Jess
Her dress was wrinkled
She wore no make up save red lips stick
If one looked closely you would see broken nails, unpainted nails and dark circles under her eyes
She was a lady
Not a lady by TV standards
But a normal lady with humor and wit, laughs and sorrow
A life
A life worth lived

Until next time,

I Am Enough

Posted by Jess
I’m not a model
I’m not a movie star or a good actor
I’m beautiful but I don’t think so
I’m not a genius or master of anything
I’m not very special or exceptional
I’m not anything but me
I’m not on billboards or rich
I don’t have tons of money to spend
I’m not anything but what God made me
I don’t have anything but what He put in me
I’m not anything but me
And me is enough

Until next time,
=)

The King of Belper

Posted by Jess
Such a beautiful bird sat on the fence
His neck tucked into his chest
He was a regal bird he was
And regal was he
The king of Belper
His head cocked to the side as he stared at the wooden shed
Did he know what it was? Perhaps he was trying to work it out.
He was an English bird and English birds are regal
This is what he would say if you asked
He doesn’t leave his perch, he can’t
For he is the king of Belper

Until next time,

An Ode to Netflix

Posted by Jess
Netflix sucks you in
It consumes your thoughts long after the credits role
It grips your mind and holds your attention
You can’t stop thinking about it
The scenes, the shots, the words
You forget about the world
You forget about your life
For now your life is their life
Your life is on the screen
And then it’s over
And then real life sets in
And then you’re back to being you

Until next time,
=)
